Understanding Payment Descriptors for Your Members

When collecting payments from your members, it's important to understand what they will see on their bank statements. Using Clubmate Pay, Stripe, and GoCardless as part of your end-to-end payment solution streamlines the process, but each service has its own way of showing payment details. Here's what your members will see and how to ensure there’s no confusion.

Clubmate Pay

When a payment is made via Clubmate Pay, your member will see 'Ufs{your business name}'* on their bank statement. It's important to ensure your business name is clearly set in the business settings of the dashboard. This helps prevent any confusion that might lead to accidental chargebacks by your members.

Stripe

For card payments via Stripe, the statement descriptor you set in the business settings section of your dashboard will appear on your members' bank statements. Be sure to choose something relevant to your club (we recommend using just your club’s name) to avoid any misunderstandings that could result in chargebacks.

GoCardless

GoCardless works slightly differently. With their Standard package, members will see GOCARDLESS-[YOURCLUBNAME] on their bank statements. This information is communicated at the time of setting up the mandate and through an email notification once the payment is processed.

While this should be sufficient for most members, some may still find it confusing and could accidentally initiate a chargeback. If this happens, it may be useful to remind your members about the statement descriptor that will appear on their bank statement.
